Newly Board Certified Attorneys in Florida recognized by Verdict One
One hundred thirty-four qualify by specialty examinations
Tarpon Springs, FL — Oct 14, 2007 — Verdict One, developer of the first online directory of board certified lawyers of all specialties, announced today that 134 attorneys from the State of Florida recently passed the specialty board certification examinations.
“Every year more attorneys sit for specialty board exams and achieve advanced credentials,” said Michael O’Laughlin, CEO of Verdict One. “It’s important because it expands the pool of qualified attorneys and gives consumers more opportunity to find one in their area.”
A board certified attorney differs from a general practice attorney by achieving the following additional steps: obtaining recommendations from judges and colleagues who endorse competency and ethics; finishing 3-5 years of practice with approved rigorous benchmarks for trial experience in a particular specialty; and, passing a qualifying written exam in the specialty.
“Achieving board certification takes discipline,” said Allyson Hughes, a Board Certified Family Law Attorney in the Tampa Area. “To give you some idea of just how selective the process is, less than five percent of the attorneys in the country qualify.”
Verdict One represents board certified lawyers in all specialties in Florida. Included also are attorneys in California, Texas and North Carolina, and coverage is adding divorce, injury, civil trial, bankruptcy, and other specialty lawyers across the country.
